WordPress Q&A - Feb 2023 Collection

Hey ,

Here are the responses to the latest WordPress Q&A session. There is a video response to all the questions but also individual written responses if you prefer reading. A small caveat: the written version may contain extra info that I thought of after the video or it may go into more details so worth clicking through.

The list of questions is under the video and I've added timestamps so you can fast-forward to the right spot.

The Video

If you want to learn the ins and outs of WordPress so you can offer it as a service, the Master WordPress Course is just the thing you need.

The Resources

These should all open in a new window so click away. Some may be affiliate links but I only recommend the good stuff.

Q1 - Internal linking ~1:45

How do I make an internal link? Do I need an extra app or plug in to help me? Will I have something already in Siteground or WordPress that I don't know about? Not much Idea what I'm doing!!

Q2 - Getting started with WordPress ~4:50

I know you said no question is too trivial. I really want to build my website on WordPress. I do not however know where to start!

Q3 - Integrating Mailerlite for a lead magnet ~08:40

I’m right at the very beginning. I’m editing Blossom themed website but don’t know how to link my lead magnet from Mailerlite. Thanks

Q4 - Divi pros & cons, site backup, improving speed, Google Analytics ~12:20

What's the downside of Divi? How to create popups for Divi? Cheapest way to backup the site? Given that it's easy to restore it. What are the downsides of having both Divi and Elementor on a site? Use for different page types. How to improve load speed? How to start tracking visitors with Google Analytics?

Q5 - Host emails via your web host ~21:50

In one of your WordPress trainings, I saw that we can have email from within our sites! I never knew this and always thought I had to hire something like Google. Can you please expand on this function? How does it work? Why would I use this vs something like google, other than the added google benefit of G Workspace? If I begin to use this Wordpress, website email and then choose to switch to google, how do I do that? My mind is swimming with possibilities right now.

Note: There is a separate video going into details for this one. It's inside the lesson for it.

Q6 - Stop spam via Contact forms ~26:50

I keep getting messages via my WordPress contact form from someone claiming he hacked into my website and stole my database and is going to start ruining my reputation online unless I pay him $3500. I'm assuming its spam (I mean dude, if you hacked into my website, you should be able to find my admin email address and email me there, instead of submitting a message through my contact form that goes to my public-facing email 🙄), but there is a tiny part of me that worries it's real. So here are my questions: 1. Please assure me it's spam! 2. Which anti-spam and anti-hacker plugins do you recommend to help me sleep easier at night?

Q7 - Best theme to choose ~33:10

How do you go about choosing a good theme?

Q8 - Changing theme/template in Divi ~36:10

I had bought WordPress and Divi. It looks like I’ve installed Divi and somehow applied a theme/template. I now want to change that or at least view others. I can see that I can view others by clicking ‘Add New’ after selecting Add New Page but should I be able to see other themes/templates that came with Divi? Or is Divi just the ‘builder’ to make it easier? I’ve gotten myself so confused over it I can’t get started with building the website.

Q9 - Can you use Elementor templates with Divi? ~38:20

I've got a WordPress website with Divi but also bought some Elementor sales page funnel templates. Is there a way to use Elementor with Divi?

Q10 - Creating a table of contents that's SEO-friendly ~40:40

When I create a table of contents in HTML, using Divi, it works fine, but isn’t recognised as ToC as I’m not using a plug-in, so lowers the “score”. What should I do about this (if anything)?

Q11 - Using SureCart and Kadence ~44:00

How to best use Kadence and Surecart in my website to create an awesome WordPress store!
